Day 4: Paris & TGV to Avignon

Our day started in Paris, where most of the group headed to the beautiful Musee D'Orsay.  The former train station was converted to a museum in the 1980s and houses the world's finest collection of Impressionist and post Impressionist painters.  It's a gorgeous building in it's own right, with the old train station clocks prominent at both ends.  After the museum we all transferred to Gare Lyon train station, where we took the high speed train south to Provence and the lovely medieval city of Avignon.  We had a delicious dinner at the Ceaveau du Theatre restaurant washed down with some good cotes du Rhone wines.

Our starter of melon, barley & prosciutto with a citrus dressing....Delicious!
